Abstract

The application of commendable qualities is a specification of initial education at school. The application and habituation carried out is usually related to character, one example is giving alms, this activity is able to train and direct the development of students' personalities as a provision for the values ​​they know and believe in. Cultivating commendable qualities requires a long, continuous and repetitive process so that they can be realized in daily actions. This research aims to determine the methods used and the values ​​developed in implementing commendable qualities through the habit of giving alms at the TK ABA Kartini Cabang Binjai Kota.  The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this research were the principal, teachers and students in class B-4. Subject determination was carried out using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used for data collection were participant observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results of the research show that the application of commendable qualities through the habit of almsgiving is carried out using exemplary methods and the moral values ​​developed include religious values, disciplinary values, honesty, order, democracy, caring, openness/transparency, togetherness, clean living patterns, the value of courtesy, the value of loving the environment, and the value of cooperation. All these values ​​are integrated through educational development strategies for commendable traits such as example or actions such as spontaneous activities, reprimands, environmental conditioning and routine activities carried out by all parties both at school during learning and extracurricular activities.
