This research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the symbolic meanings and social roles of the dreadlock ritual in Dieng. The method used is a qualitative approach with ethnographic method, which allows researchers to examine this tradition in a broader social and cultural context. The results of the study show that the dreadlock ritual not only functions as a rite of passage, but also as a means to maintain the balance between humans and nature. This tradition illustrates the local community's ability to transmit cultural and spiritual values from generation to generation, while remaining relevant in a changing social context. This research emphasises the importance of preserving local traditions such as dreadlock rituals as part of efforts to maintain the sustainability of the cultural and spiritual ecosystems that have become an integral part of the lives of the people of Dieng.
