LITERASI STATISTIK DAN URGENSINYA BAGI SISWA

Abstract

Mencermati lebih mendalam terhadap tujuan pendidikan matematika dan standar kurikulum yang ditetapkan terkait dengan pendidikan statistik di sekolah baik mengacu pada KTSP 2006 maupun Kurikulum 2013, salah satu tujuan pentingnya adalah agar siswa melek statistik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran apa sebenarnya yang dimaksud dengan literasi statistik dan urgensinya untuk siswa. Berdasarkan hasil kajian dapat disimpulkan bahwa literasi statistik adalah kemampuan seseorang dalam memahami; menginterpretasikan; dan  merepresentasikan suatu data, baik dalam bentuk tabel ataupun grafik. Literasi statistik penting bagi siswa karena pada akhirnya siswa akan dihadapkan pada perannya sebagai produsen atau konsumen data. Sebagai produsen data, seseorang harus memahami cara menyajikan data sehingga data yang dihasilkan mudah untuk dibaca dan dipahami oleh orang lain. Sebagai konsumen data, Ia dituntut untuk bisa membaca data sekaligus memahami maksud yang terkandung di dalam data, baik yang tersirat maupun yang tersurat.
