Abstract

Abstract

Physical activity is very necessary for someone to maintain physical fitness. Extracurricular sports are one of the sports activities that can affect physical fitness. In reality, there is no real evidence about the contribution to physical fitness. This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical activity and physical fitness in extracurricular students of MAN 2 Tuban. The study was conducted at MAN 2 Tuban with a sample of 55 students who participated in futsal, volleyball, and athletics extracurricular activities. The level of physical activity of students in this study was measured by the Physical Activity Questionnaire-Adolescents (PAQ-A), while the physical fitness test used the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI). Participation in extracurricular activities at MAN 2 Tuban that involved physical activity significantly contributed to improving students' physical fitness. This is based on the value (sig) <α (0.005) and the results of the correlation coefficient which showed a value of (0.720 = strong relationship) which was positive. This means that there is a significant relationship between physical activity and physical fitness in extracurricular students of MAN 2 Tuban.
