Abstract

Career choice certainty is an important developmental concern for senior high school students, yet some twelfth-grade students remain uncertain about their future career direction. This guidance and counseling action research aimed to improve the career choice certainty of twelfth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Mejobo through group guidance services supported by inspirational video media. The study followed the Kemmis and McTaggart action research model across two cycles, each consisting of three sessions. Six students were selected purposively based on a student needs assessment and initial interviews. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, anecdotal records, and self-reflections, then analyzed qualitatively using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman. The findings showed that all subjects, who initially expressed uncertainty about their career direction, were able to establish more concrete career choices supported by personal reasons and action steps by the end of Cycle II across four indicators of career choice certainty: clarity of choice, confidence in the choice, consistency of choice, and concrete action orientation. The findings indicate that integrating group dynamics with inspirational video media can support students’ process of career choice certainty.
