Abstract

Critical thinking is a very important 21st century skill that needs to be developed from an early age. However, the development of this skill in early childhood education is often hampered by a lack of innovative and engaging learning media. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the animated media “Keluarga Arunika” in improving the critical thinking skills of 5-6 year old children at Nurul Jannah Kindergarten. This study employs a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design involving a single group pre-test and post-test, with a sample of 10 children. Data on critical thinking skills were collected using observation sheets before and after the intervention and analyzed using a paired t-test. The results indicate a significant increase in post-test scores compared to pre-test scores. The paired t-test confirmed these findings with a significance level (two-tailed) of 0.001, which is less than 0.05. This indicates a statistically significant difference, leading to the conclusion that the animated media “Keluarga Arunika” is significantly effective in enhancing critical thinking skills in young children. This study can serve as a strategic learning model for educators to integrate interactive digital media as an innovative solution for developing essential skills in early childhood education.
