Batik, as one of Indonesia’s most treasured cultural heritages, was officially recognized by UNESCO on October 2, 2009. It holds a significant place in global cultural history, with strong historical roots that have been preserved for centuries. Given its importance, batik has been integrated into educational curricula in Indonesia to foster cultural awareness and appreciation among younger generations. This study seeks to address three main research questions: (1) how the traditional craftsmanship and creative thinking of batik artisans contribute to elevating the cultural identity and dignity of local communities through Sukapuraan batik, (2) how the visual language and aesthetic aspects of batik motifs can be examined as a unique form of local genius, particularly in the context of Tasikmalaya batik, and (3) how the symbols, motifs, and underlying philosophical values embedded in batik designs can be identified and incorporated into school subjects to enrich students’ knowledge. The primary objective of this research is to document and analyze the motifs, symbols, and artistic meanings found in Sukapuraan batik. These findings are intended to serve as valuable cultural resources that can be used in learning contexts to strengthen national identity and promote meaningful learning. A qualitative research approach was employed, involving surveys, interviews, and documentation studies, supported by aesthetic and philosophical analyses. The results are expected to reveal the visual language of traditional batik and its inherent values, providing a foundation for integrating this knowledge into school curricula and contributing to the preservation and revitalization of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.
