1. General Information

Jurnal Buana Teknologi Pendidikan is a peer-reviewed open-access journal in the field of educational technology. The journal publishes original research articles and scholarly studies that contribute to the development of theory, research, practice, and innovation in educational technology.

Authors are expected to carefully review the journal's Focus and Scope before submitting a manuscript.

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Buana Teknologi Pendidikan must be original, have not been previously published, and must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time.

2. Scope of Submission

Manuscripts should be relevant to educational technology and related areas within the journal's stated Focus and Scope.

Submissions that fall substantially outside the journal's scope may be rejected during the initial editorial screening without being sent for peer review.

3. Language

Manuscripts should be written in clear and academically appropriate English.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the quality, clarity, grammar, spelling, and consistency of the manuscript before submission. The editorial team may request language revision when necessary.

4. Manuscript Preparation

Authors must prepare manuscripts using the official Jurnal Buana Teknologi Pendidikan manuscript template.

The manuscript should contain the elements required by the journal template, including, where applicable:

  • title;
  • author names and affiliations;
  • corresponding author information;
  • abstract;
  • keywords;
  • introduction;
  • research methods;
  • results and discussion;
  • conclusion;
  • acknowledgments, where applicable;
  • funding information, where applicable;
  • conflict of interest statement, where applicable;
  • data availability statement, where applicable; and
  • references.

Authors should ensure that the submitted manuscript is complete and ready for editorial assessment.

5. Title, Abstract, and Keywords

The title should be clear, informative, concise, and accurately represent the content of the manuscript.

The abstract should summarize the purpose, methods, main findings, and principal conclusions of the study.

Keywords should accurately represent the main topics of the manuscript and support article discoverability. Authors should avoid unnecessary abbreviations in the title, abstract, and keywords.

6. Author Names and Affiliations

All author names must be entered accurately and consistently during online submission. Each author should provide an appropriate institutional affiliation.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed authors have contributed appropriately, all authors have approved the submitted manuscript, and all information entered into the submission system is accurate.

ORCID identifiers are encouraged where available.

7. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, interpretation, or preparation of the work.

All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work.

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.

Guest authorship, honorary authorship, ghost authorship, and other misleading forms of authorship attribution are not permitted.

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be explained and approved by all affected authors. Changes after acceptance will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.

8. Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original work.

Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate text recycling, and other forms of research misconduct are not acceptable.

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software or other appropriate methods.

Authors are responsible for properly acknowledging and citing all sources used in the manuscript.

Important: The journal does not require authors to cite articles from Jurnal Buana Teknologi Pendidikan merely for the purpose of increasing journal citations. References should be selected solely on the basis of scholarly relevance.

9. Citation and References

Authors should use the citation and reference style specified in the journal's current manuscript template.

References should be relevant, accurate, complete, and preferably include recent and authoritative scholarly literature where appropriate.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that every in-text citation corresponds to an entry in the reference list and vice versa.

References must not be fabricated or included without verification.

10. Research Ethics and Informed Consent

Research involving human participants must be conducted according to appropriate ethical principles and applicable institutional or national requirements.

Where ethical approval is required, authors should provide information about the relevant approving institution or ethics committee.

Participation in research must be voluntary, and informed consent should be obtained where applicable.

For research involving children, students, vulnerable individuals, or other protected populations, authors must take appropriate measures to safeguard participants' rights, welfare, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.

Personally identifiable information, photographs, recordings, quotations, or case descriptions should not be published without appropriate authorization or consent.

Where formal ethical approval is not required, authors remain responsible for demonstrating that the research was conducted ethically.

11. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.

Conflicts may include financial, personal, professional, institutional, or other relationships relevant to the submitted work.

Suggested statement when no conflict exists:
The authors declare no conflict of interest.

Disclosure of a conflict of interest does not automatically prevent publication.

12. Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose all sources of financial support related to the research and preparation of the manuscript.

Where applicable, authors should provide the name of the funding organization and grant number.

The role of the funder in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, or the decision to publish should also be disclosed where relevant.

Suggested statement when no specific funding was received:
This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.

13. Data Availability and Research Transparency

Authors should provide sufficient methodological and analytical information to allow readers to understand and evaluate the research.

Where appropriate and ethically permissible, authors are encouraged to make research data, instruments, supplementary materials, code, or related materials available.

A data availability statement should be provided when relevant.

Examples:

The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

or

The data are not publicly available because of participant privacy and confidentiality restrictions.

Data sharing must comply with ethical approval, informed consent, privacy requirements, institutional rules, and applicable legal restrictions.

The editorial team may request supporting data or documentation when necessary to assess research integrity.

14. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Generative artificial intelligence tools may be used to assist certain aspects of manuscript preparation, but they must be used responsibly and transparently.

AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content, including its accuracy, originality, citations, interpretations, and ethical compliance.

When generative AI has been used substantively for drafting, summarizing, language processing, data processing, coding, image generation, or similar purposes, authors should disclose the tool used and explain its purpose.

Authors must independently verify AI-generated information.

AI must not be used to fabricate or manipulate research data, images, results, references, or other scholarly content in a misleading manner.

15. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright in their published work.

By publishing in Jurnal Buana Teknologi Pendidikan, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, preserve, archive, and disseminate the article as part of the scholarly record.

Articles published under the journal's current licensing policy are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This license permits sharing and adaptation, including commercial use, provided appropriate attribution is given to the original author(s), the source is acknowledged, a link to the license is provided, and changes are indicated where applicable.

Historical articles remain subject to the copyright and license displayed at the time of their publication.

16. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system.

  1. Register or log in to the journal website.
  2. Start a new submission.
  3. Complete all required submission information.
  4. Upload the manuscript and required supporting files.
  5. Enter complete and accurate metadata for all authors.
  6. Provide the title, abstract, keywords, and other required metadata.
  7. Review the submission carefully.
  8. Complete the submission process.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the online metadata corresponds to the information contained in the manuscript.

17. Submission Checklist

  • The manuscript is original and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The manuscript follows the current journal template.
  • All authors have approved the submission.
  • Author names and affiliations are accurate.
  • The manuscript falls within the journal's Focus and Scope.
  • Applicable research ethics requirements have been fulfilled.
  • Conflicts of interest and funding have been disclosed.
  • References have been checked and verified.
  • All required manuscript and supplementary files have been uploaded.

Incomplete submissions may be returned to authors before editorial review.

18. Editorial Screening

All submissions are subject to an initial editorial assessment.

The editorial team may evaluate:

  • relevance to the journal's Focus and Scope;
  • originality and scholarly contribution;
  • academic and methodological quality;
  • manuscript organization and clarity;
  • ethical compliance;
  • plagiarism or research-integrity concerns;
  • metadata completeness; and
  • compliance with the Author Guidelines.

Manuscripts that do not satisfy fundamental journal requirements may be returned to authors or rejected without external peer review.

19. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening may proceed to peer review.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, clarity, relevance, ethical integrity, and contribution to the field.

Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewer and editor comments.

Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee acceptance for publication.

Editorial decisions remain the responsibility of the journal's editorial team.

20. Revision of Manuscripts

When revision is requested, authors should address reviewer and editor comments carefully.

Authors should normally provide:

  • a revised manuscript; and
  • a clear response explaining how each reviewer or editor comment has been addressed.

Where authors disagree with a recommendation, they should provide a reasoned academic explanation.

21. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may submit a complaint concerning the editorial process, peer review, publication ethics, or other journal-related matters.

Authors may also appeal an editorial decision when they believe that a significant factual, procedural, or interpretative error affected the decision.

Appeals must provide clear and evidence-based reasons and should not consist solely of disagreement with the editorial outcome.

The journal will assess complaints and appeals fairly and confidentially.

22. Corrections, Retractions, and Withdrawals

The journal is committed to preserving the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

Errors identified after publication may be addressed through an appropriate correction.

Articles may be retracted where serious problems substantially undermine the reliability or integrity of the publication.

Published articles will not be silently removed from the scholarly record.

Withdrawal generally applies to manuscripts that have not yet become part of the final published record.

Changes in institutional branding, journal management, website design, or publishing platform are not reasons to remove previously published scholarly content.

23. Archiving and Digital Preservation

Jurnal Buana Teknologi Pendidikan is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of published scholarly content.

Published articles and journal issues are maintained electronically through the journal's Open Journal Systems platform.

The journal works with its institutional and technical administrators to maintain appropriate backup and preservation measures.

Published scholarly records should remain accessible despite future changes in institutional branding, website design, journal management, or publishing platforms.

24. Publication Schedule

Jurnal Buana Teknologi Pendidikan is published twice a year, in May and November.

Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year.

Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication according to the journal's editorial planning and publication schedule.

25. Article Processing Charges and Author Fees

Authors should consult the journal's Author Fees page for the current policy regarding submission fees, publication fees, article processing charges, or other applicable charges.

Any applicable fees should be communicated transparently and should not influence editorial or peer-review decisions.

26. Responsibility of Authors

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • the submission is original;
  • all listed authors have approved the submission;
  • the manuscript complies with applicable research and publication ethics;
  • relevant conflicts of interest and funding sources have been disclosed;
  • the submitted information is accurate; and
  • the authors accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.

Authors are expected to cooperate with editors during peer review, revision, production, and any legitimate post-publication investigation.
