Abstract

The development of 21st century competency requirements emphasizes the importance of learning that is not merely oriented towards memorization, but encourages conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem solving. However, learning practices at SMK Dharma Wanita Gresik still tend to be superficial, dominated by lectures and routine exercises. This community service activity aims to strengthen teachers' understanding of the concepts and characteristics of deep learning strategies, assist teachers in developing deep learning based learning tools, and improve teachers' ability to implement deep learning strategies in the classroom. The methods used in this PPM activity are training and mentoring through the stages of needs analysis, deep learning concept workshops, assistance in developing learning tools, microteaching, and reflection. Data was obtained from questionnaires before and after the activity, observations, documentation, and reflections. The results of the PPM activity showed several positive impacts, namely: 1) an increase in teachers' understanding of deep learning; 2) learning tools such as objectives, activities, and assessments were oriented towards deepening concepts; 3) an increase in the activeness and quality of student interaction in learning activities. This mentoring activity proved to be oriented towards strengthening teachers' pedagogical capacity in applying deep learning strategies and has the potential to be applied to other schools.
