THE ROLE OF TEACHERS AND PARENTS IN OVERCOMING STUDENTS WHO HAVE DIFFICULTIES IN LEARNING TO READ

Early reading difficulties are a challenge in elementary school students' learning, impacting their academic achievement. This study aims to analyze the roles of teachers and parents in addressing students' reading difficulties, including supporting factors, barriers, and effective strategies. The research method used was qualitative with document analysis to understand the phenomenon in depth. The results show that reading difficulties are a challenge for students, influenced by various factors. Therefore, the role of teachers and parents is key in overcoming these difficulties, with various roles teachers can provide to students at school, and parents can provide various learning support at home. Supporting factors include school facilities, teacher guidance, and home tutoring from parents. Barriers include the time available for teachers and parents to provide special guidance and the child's level of intelligence, concentration, and activeness. Therefore, efforts that can be made include providing learning motivation and positive responses, using learning methods, providing reading learning facilities, providing additional lesson hours, instilling reading activities, learning support at home, and establishing a good relationship between teachers and parents.
