Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of Wordwall Open The Box media to third grade students of SDN Karangayu 01 Semarang in the material “Aku Anak Indonesia” using the problem-based learning (PBL) approach. This study used concurrent embedded design and a mixed methods approach. The study involved a total of 29 students, with pretests and posttests focused on assessing cognitive learning outcomes related to understanding self- and peer identity. PBL was implemented through the stages of material introduction, group division, problem solving using Wordwall media, and evaluation. Results showed significant improvement in learning outcomes: pretest top scores ranged from 28 to 93, while posttest scores ranged from 60 to 100. The average score increased from 60.5 on the pretest to 80.5 on the posttest, and the percentage of students achieving the learning completeness criteria rose from 52% to 83%. The N-gain calculation of 0.6 indicates a significant increase in knowledge. Observations also showed that 52% of students had an excellent independent attitude, and 55% showed an excellent global diversity attitude. In conclusion, with a 31% increase in learning mastery, Wordwall Open The Box was tested to be an influential tool to improve students' attitudes and content understanding in the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model.
